want aN art or poetry program that creates long lasting impact?

It’s my mission to share tools I’ve learned with students who need a way forward.

“I just want to say thank you. I loved watching you inspire the kids to write. It was especially touching as I watched some of the toughest kids put words to paper so easily. I hope they will find that as an outlet for their emotions as they grow. Thank you for what you do. You are greatly appreciated.”
— Amy-Lyn Foster Arts Coordinator Middle School Theater Teacher Royal Oaks School of the Arts

The arts ARE A VEHICLE FOR HEALING

I incorporate SEL (social emotional learning) and personal development tools with art and poetry to provide transformational art and poetry workshops for students grade level 5th - college level, and provide programming in correctional facilities, detention centers and shelters for adults.

If you’ve been looking for an artist residency or poet residency as a visiting poet for your school, consider reaching out to me today!

As a trauma informed care trainer…

with background in overcoming mental health challenges caused by trauma, I have 39 years of insight, knowledge and resources.

It’s my own personal experiences with these challenges, and the doorway of the arts, that allow me to impact students who have behavioral health challenges, who are sometimes the toughest for educators to reach.

“I’ve never forgotten how awful my teenage years were for me. I want to be the person I didn’t have growing up. It’s one of my life’s missions to serve students who are on the brink of giving up like I was.”

I’ve worked with schools, alternative schools, group homes, shelters, detention facilities and colleges all over North Carolina providing youth poetry programs, arts programming and trauma informed care training to staff and teachers.

Chances are if you’re in the Cabarrus, Mecklenburg or Rowan county area, I’ve been to your school.

And if not, what are you waiting for?

I PROVIDE:

  • School appropriate spoken word performance for middle school and high school students

  • Poetry and art programs for detention facilities, group homes and shelters
